~ See you next week!

Christy + Robbie {married}

{post and images by Melissa}

Christy and Robbie waited patiently, with great anticipation, for this day to arrive. Christy was surrounded by dear girlfriends and sisters while she was getting ready. Her personal attendant, Heather, wins best personal attendant ever award!
Her dress was fantastic....I wanted to take millions of pictures.  I love the shot of her tiny little toes peeking out from under her dress.  Christy is a tiny little thing!
By far this is the best "first sight" on record.  Just before she walked in Robbie said to me..."I'm feeling pretty good, I don't think I'm going to cry"..... and then the flood gates opened for both of them.  The are so tender toward each other.
Time to have some fun!  It was cold, but hearts were oh so warm!
No words needed......

The day ended with heartfelt toasts and dancing.  Christy and Robbie I hope our paths cross again.

I’m Number 51, AGAIN

I’m angry, it happened again…fifth year in a row; I’m number 51. People magazine just listed 2008’s fifty sexiest men alive. They never print, publish, promote or publicize number 51. Just an Oh-So-Close e-mail, yet again. Then I noticed that most of the men are members of the cult (oops) club (oops) church of Scientology, check out this list. At this point I can no longer stand being number 51. As of this moment I dedicate my ego and all my good-lookingness to the cult/club/church of Scientology. Move over Oprah, I’m jumping on your sofa.

Good reasons to become a Sciencetologist:

- They don’t go to war

- They only accept beautiful people

- You become automatically rich through osmosis or by the company you keep, or something like that.

- Tax exempt status – that’s why they only accept the rich

- Jenna Elfman (she’s pretty)

- Done the Christian/ Buddhist thing: Service to others, practice forgiveness, mindful of my actions, and I suffered. That is so two thousand year ago.

- Get to be immortal. Come on, that’s just cool.

- Story of Xenu is better than Star Wars.

- Sciencetologist lawyers kick ass

- South Park dedicated a full episode to satirizing Scientology – this only happens to famous and successful people. When’s the last time anybody satirized the Presbyterians?

- If Kurt Vonnegut would have conceived the idea of Scientology instead of L. Ron Hubbard nobody would have a problem with it.

Snow

First snow, autumn fall colors disappeared. Trees hibernate, beautiful and haunting standing strong as soldiers. Blue clouds lined with a pink hue fill the horizon. I am standing at a window resting on the wood seal frame looking out on the season. White-blanketed grass, cars dusted over and I listen to music as coffee brews.

Kathy and Jeremiah :: Married!

Jeremiah and Kathy contacted me a few months before their wedding ceremony. It was a little short notice... and I already had a wedding booked out of town the day before. There was just something about these two that I really liked and I wanted to shoot their wedding!!!

Kathy's beautiful white wedding gown stood out sooo beautifully against Jeremiah's dress blues. I have shot a lot of weddings where the groom was in the military, but none wore their dress uniform. The colors, the formality, it was pretty cool to capture this wedding.

Another awesome part of this wedding day were my special second and third shooters. Aubrey Robinson and Samantha Johnson of Every Little Moment Photography - Salt Lake City, Utah. We totally rocked the day's photos and it was such a blast to be able to second shoot at my own ceremony. I totally trusted these girls and they delivered beautiful photographs that were well exposed and artfully composed.

Kathy was filled with so much emotion. I love seeing in a bride's eyes when they are so ready, so in love, so right.

Jeremiah's daughter is a budding photographer... Aubrey and Samantha had a blast sharing their expensive cameras with the little girl.

And a quote from the bride:
Thank You Amy!!

The photos are beautiful. Everything Jeremiah and I dreamed of. You did an amazing job... Once again we are so thankful to have had you be a part of our day. You truly captured everything we wanted and did a job beyond our expectations. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

Completed – Peak Conditioning Project

Starting weight 171lbs (goal weight 165lbs)
Current weight 162lbs
Height 5’9
BMI 23%

After 90 days I can say that I am in the best peak condition of my life. This is what I learned. I have an enhanced sense of personal responsibility to stay in balance within mind, body, and spirit. Corinthians 6:19, “Your body is a temple.” This passage holds true. A temple on the outside, stand tall and strong on the inside it is a place of quiet prayer and meditation.

Week nine I wrote,

"At this stage I am seeing my body as a thought process. Meditation and prayer are equal to but not greater than diet and physical strength training. There is no difference between physical and mental effort. "

That’s it; the lesson learned is balancing the internal and the external of your body.

Lastly, what I learned is that it will take another 90 days for my ego to deflate. So if you see me flexing in a mirror or checking out my own reflection it’s ok to giggle….my wife does.

Tracy and Tim :: Engaged!

Tracy and Tim picked the perfect spot for their fall engagement session. They chose Green Park in Green Bay where they frequently go to walk their dog. The location was perfect! Amazing fall color, a winding path, a great bridge, a wooden boardwalk - everything about it was perfect.

I am soooo excited with this couple. They were willing to get dizzy for a shot on a merry-go-round that ended up landing over 3,700 views, 160 comments and 493 favs on my Flickr page. The shot landed me the front page of Flickr's Explore and skyrocketed in popularity past all of my images. This image has been one of the most stunning images of the entire year.

Your spin me right round baby...

In addition to the merry-go-round shot there were a bunch of unique and amazing images. For these shots in the tall grass Tracy and Tim risked getting their shoes totally wet. I'm so happy that the shot turned out so stunning!

Crystal + Troy {married}

Hopefully you noticed these two a few weeks ago when I took their engagement photos. We had to do the engagement photos so close to the wedding because Troy was off in the service. and now after the wedding they are moving up to Alaska. You never know where love will take you...

I had a blast being with Crystal and Troy and all their friends and family celebrating their love. The wedding was lovely and Crystal is a joy to photograph.

Congratulations to the two of you. I'm sure your love will carry you far in life.
